The Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) revoked the import license of Manila-based LVM Grains Enterprises due to unauthorized importation of agricultural food products from Vietnam.
BPI said in a statement yesterday all sanitary and phytosanitary import clearances issued to the importer have also been cancelled.
BPI earlier issued a show-cause order to LVM Grains after it found a shipment of milled rice, coffee and cashew nuts from Vietnam on board MV Royal 89 and consigned to the company did not have import clearance.
“Further, our records also showed that your company has previously committed multiple non-compliance,” said Gerald Glenn Panganiban, BPI director, in the order.
BPI said any importation of plants, planting materials and plant products requires import clearance and the accompanying phytosanitary certificate issued by the country of origin.
“This is to ensure that the shipment was able to comply with the phytosanitary requirements set by our office and ensure freedom of the commodities from quarantine or exotic plant pests,” Panganiban said..
