MONDE Nissin Corp. is investing P1.2 billion for the expansion of the production of its popular Butter Coconut Biscuits.
In its project brief submitted to the Board of Investments (BOI), Monde Nissin said it will establish a new facility in Barangay Ilang, Bunawan, Davao City for the manufacture of butter coconut biscuits for distribution to Visayas and Mindanao initially, with potential to expand in Indonesia and other neighboring Southeast Asian countries in the future.
Monde Nissin currently has an existing manufacturing plant for Butter Coconut Cookies in Sta. Rosa, Laguna for the Luzon market.
Of the P1.2-billion project cost, 46 percent will be spent for site preparation and development, 48 percent for acquisition of machineries and equipment including installation, and 6 percent for working capital.
The facility was scheduled to start commercial operations this month and will generate 111 jobs with regular positions.
Except for the manual preparation of raw materials, the whole butter coconut biscuits production and packaging of finished goods is fully mechanized using up-to-date and market appropriate technologies, the application said
For this project, the firm will employ advanced automation technology for the packaging and movement of finished goods which will require highly skilled workers whom are hired locally.
Previously, packaging is done manually.
