Taiwan’s Aromate Industries is building a $4.3 million manufacturing facility in Lima Estate in Batangas.

The facility will serve as the company’s regional hub for its air care products for southeast Asia.

Aromate produces for car air fresheners and home fragrance products for private labels, contract manufacturing and original design manufacturing (ODM).

The facility will be built by Aromate’s Philippine unit, Aromate PH Assets Corp., who signed the registration agreement with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) for the facility, said the Department of Trade and Industry.

The DTI said the agreement was a key outcome of PEZA’s investment promotion mission to Taiwan from last month.

Tereso Panga, PEZA director general, said the investment is “a significant stride in attracting more Taiwanese firms to the Philippines.”

“This is a significant development as we continue to welcome more Taiwan companies setting up operations in the Philippines, generating opportunities for both local and international markets,” he said.

Anthony B. Rivera, Trade Representative and Director for Commercial Affairs for Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC-Taipei), meanwhile expressed confidence that the company would bring more opportunities “not only in product manufacturing but also in research and development for innovative fragrance and air care products.”

Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil, Manila Economic and Cultural Office chairman, said the government is committed to facilitating foreign investments through her office, “making it easier to do business and to fostering stronger industrial partnerships between the Philippines and Taiwan.”

“MECO fully supports companies like Aromate as they expand to the Philippines,” she said.
