CEMEX Holdings Philippines Inc. said unit APO Cement Corp. has executed a supply agreement with SEM Calaca RES Corp., the retail electricity supply business arm of Semirara Mining and Power Corp.
The agreement covers the supply of 44 megawatts of electricity to APO’s cement plant facilities in Naga, Cebu, which will run until Dec. 25, 2024.
Isidro Consunji, Semirara Mining chief executive officer, earlier said the company can supply 50 megawatts of of electricity to Cemex after Semirara Mining and its mother company, DMCI Holdings Inc., acquired Cemex’s Philippine operation from its mother company, Mexico’s Cemex SAB de CV, for $305.6 million.
Consunji, who is also DMCI’s CEO, said Semirara can also supply the coal and fly ash needs of Cemex.
