In a statement, AirAsia Philippines parent firm Capital A Berhad said passenger volume reached 1.63 million in April to June, compared to 994,547 passengers carried in the same period last year.

“Throughout the 2Q (second quarter) 2023, the domestic performance was incredibly strong, and international market traffic remained buoyant with a favorable load factor. In response to the robust international market demand, the group has reallocated more capacity to international routes to meet the strong resurgence from the international market,” Capital A said in a statement, referring to the group’s aviation operations including the Philippines.

The airline’s load factor declined to 91 percent in the second quarter compared with 93 percent in the same period last year.

However, from January to June this year, load factor was at 92 percent.

AirAsia Philippines also said it recorded a load factor of 94 percent in the first 15 days of July .

AirAsia said it is looking forward to a healthy second semester, after posting an on-time performance (OTP) of 81 percent, running with the highest logged last July 6 at 94 percent.

OTP is an airline’s metric value especially when it comes to punctuality. An airline is considered on time if it arrives or departs within 15 minutes of the published schedule.
