Low-cost carrier AirAsia Philippines is on track to revert to its pre-pandemic flight frequency and capacity by year-end.

In a statement, the airline said it is expecting the 100 percent return of its 2019 fleet by end-year, consequently allowing it to increase its flight frequency and capacity to pre-March 2020 level.

AirAsia Philippines said it is set to end the third quarter with a strong average domestic load factor of 93.5 percent, which it foresees to grow significantly as the holidays arrive.

Currently, AirAsia flies more than 90 times a day to 16 domestic and seven international destinations.

The airline also rolled out a big-ticket sale from September 9 to 25 for guest planning to travel internationally from January 1, 2023, or domestically from June 1, 2023, until October 28, 2023.

This is anticipated to buoy up the revenge travel demand into 2023, hence driving the full recovery of travel enterprises from the pandemic, the airline said.

“The travel industry is all hands on deck in ensuring that the demand continues to pick up until corporate stakeholders attain their respective pre-pandemic numbers, and eventually achieve growth post the global health crisis,” said Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines head of communications and public affairs. – Myla Iglesias
