Air Swift Transport Inc. has started commercial flights in Romblon airport last Saturday, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

Air Swift, together with provincial and local government officials, airport staff and representatives, officially inaugurated its commercial flights to Romblon airport over the weekend.

In a statement, CAAP said Air Swift has replaced CebGo, the unit of Cebu Pacific, in catering commercial flights in Romblon after the latter officially terminated its operations to the airport last month.

Air Swift will be flying to Romblon from Manila and vice versa from September 24 to March 31, 2023, twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday.

CAAP Flight Standard Inspectorate Service inspectors simultaneously conducted a validity flight check on the ATR 42-600 aircraft used in the maiden flight.

According to Civil Aeronautics Board data, AirSwift flew 81,439 passengers in the first half of the year — of which 18,805 flew in first quarter and 62,634 in the second quarter — higher than last year’s passenger traffic of 22,285. –Myla Iglesias
