With holiday traffic expected to peak this week, San Miguel Corp. (SMC) Infrastructure yesterday said it has begun deploying additional traffic management personnel in its tollways system to provide roadside assistance to motorists and help manage the flow of vehicles at exit points.
SMC Infrastructure, which operates the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway System, NAIA Expressway and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway, said it has also coordinated with local police and the traffic bureaus of local government units to manage the traffic flow.
Among additional personnel deployed are ambulant tellers, tasked with helping speed up vehicle throughput at toll plazas by scanning Autosweep cards along queues. As such, Ang advised motorists to always keep their Autosweep ETC cards ready in their vehicles.
