ACEN’s SanMar Solar, a project developed by subsidiary Santa Cruz Solar Energy Inc. (SCSEI), has obtained a Green Lane Certificate of Endorsement by the Board of Investments (BOI), the agency said in a statement yesterday.

The certificate was awarded on August 29.

The plant, strategically located in Zambales, is expected to generate up to 587 megawatts peak of solar energy once fully operational.

The BOI said SanMar Solar is being developed in three phases.

Construction of Phases 1 and 2 is underway, with commercial operations targeted for this quarter. Phase 3 is scheduled for completion by the fourth quarter of 2025.

The BOI said during construction, the project will employ up to 2,000 skilled workers, with Phases 1 and 2 alone generating a workforce of 3,600.

This endorsement marks the 8th Green Lane project for ACEN.

Green Lane projects benefit from the streamlined processes for large-scale investments under Executive Order No. 18.

ACEN is the publicly listed energy unit of the Ayala Group with presence in the Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, and the US. ACEN currently manages 4.8 GW of attributable renewable energy capacity, both operational and under construction.

ACEN’s domestic assets include 1,850 MW of solar, wind, and geothermal capacity. The company has set an ambitious target to increase its renewable energy capacity to 20 GW by 2030.
