Aboitiz Power Corp. expects to complete over 721 megawatts (MW) of priority renewable energy (RE) projects in the next three years.
In a statement, the company said these include the 94 MW Cayanga solar project in Pangasinan and the 160 MW peak Laoag solar project in Ilocos.
AboitizPower said it remains open to exploring projects outside of the Philippines.
“Our sights are still set on high-growth geographic markets with acceptable regulatory environments that are also aligned with our risk appetite,” the company said.
AboitizPower has partnered with affiliate firm, Aboitiz Data Innovation, in launching a data innovation program to utilize artificial intelligence, among other technologies that will identify ways to drive down the cost of electricity and improve power reliability and security in the country.
“We seek to not just experiment for the sake of experimentation, but to experiment to solve real operational problems that matter and will provide financial return and the opportunity for market leadership,” said Emmanuel Rubio, AboitizPower president and chief executive officer.
These projects include battery optimization to allow more usage predictability on the best potential uses of industrial batteries; visual anomaly detection using satellite imagery analysis to find and predict encroachment of plants and trees on poles, wires and other electrical distribution assets; as well as the optimization and upgrade of installed field and network equipment for more intelligent troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
It will also include intelligent account management and collection leveraging behavior-based analytics and economics to help reduce service disconnections; predictive analytics to lessen unplanned outages of thermal power plant units; and intelligent benchmarking of power plants against industry metrics and performance to have smarter financial forecasting and operational planning.
