Aboitiz Power Corp. through its subsidiary, Advent Energy Inc. has secured its first customer under the green energy option program (GEOP).
The company said Vita Tropic Ice Co., Inc., an ice manufacturer in Malabon City, signed a supply deal with the company last month.
Under GEOP, customers with an average peak demand of at least 100 kilowatts for the past 12 months have the option to switch to renewable energy sources and choose their own renewable energy supplier.
Aboitiz Power already received GEOP permits from the Department of Energy for its retail companies including Advent Energy Inc., Aboitiz Energy Solutions Inc. and Prism Energy Inc.
As of October 2020, Aboitiz Power had the biggest share in installed generating capacity in the entire country at 4,973.4 megawatts (MW) equivalent to a share of 21.3 percent of the total 23,409.7 MW
Aboitiz Power targets to double its capacity to 9,200 MW by 2030, wherein 4,600 MW are targeted for renewable energy projects located both local and overseas. – Jed Macapagal
