Two units of the Manolo Fortich 1 hydro plant in Bukidnon are back online after Aboitiz Power Corp. completed restoration works.
The units, with a combined gross capacity of 32 megawatts(MW), temporarily stopped operations after suffering from oil saturation, erosion and mudslides given the persistent rains in June last year.
Aboitiz Power said the units were re-synched to the Mindanao grid last August 10 after 358 days of pipe repairs to attend dislocations and bursts as well as the damage to the high head penstock line.
At present, the four units of Manolo Fortich 1 Hydro with a total capacity of 45.94 MW and another four units of Manolo Fortich 2 Hydro with a total generation of 27.38 MW are running at full gross capacity of 73.32MW.
Earlier, Aboitiz Power said it will spend around P190 billion over the next decade for an additional 3,700 MW worth of renewable energy projects in its portfolio. – Jed Macapagal
