Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc., through the Aboitiz Foundation, said it has invested more than P5 billion for its 35 years of operation.

For the period, it also partnered with some 600,000 individuals and institutional partners and implemented over 5,000 corporate social responsibility projects by optimizing synergies of several business units, the company said.

The Aboitiz Foundation said its investments are in provisions for resources, facilities and scholarships to students and young professionals, especially those in remote areas who have less access.

The foundation made a $10-million donation to the Asian Institute of Management for the Aboitiz School of Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship to help address the demand for talent in data science in the country.

It is also onboarding partners to scale Aurora PH, a project that aims to provide access to electricity, internet connectivity and digital tools to accelerate the learning of students in last-mile schools.

Last year, over 6,000 beneficiaries, including micro, small and medium enterprises and cooperatives, received support and training through its programs to provide digital tools and skills, Aboitiz Foundation said.

It also introduced the Elevate Artificial Intelligence and Data Annotation program to provide data annotation and other technical training for homemakers and mothers that will enable them to earn a living while taking care of their families, it added.

Through the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park, some 8,000 hawksbill turtle hatchlings were released last year and more than 19,000 mangroves were planted as partnerships with various government, academic and non-profit organizations were pursued to implement systems that will develop more climate-resilient, climate-smart communities, Aboitiz Foundation said. – Jed Macapagal
