Aboitiz Infra Capital (AIC) said it is planning to launch a fourth economic estate project next year.

Rafael Fernandez de Mesa, president of LIMA Land Inc., , told reporters on the sidelines of an event in Batangas last week the project is set to be formally launched by the first quarter of next year but declined to provide details on its location.

At present, AIC’s existing economic estate projects include the LIMA Estate in Malvar, Batangas; Mactan Economic Zone 2 (MEZ2) Estate in Lapu Lapu City, Cebu; and the West Cebu Estate (WCE) in Balamban, Cebu.

“MEZ2 which is in Mactan and LIMA, they serve the same type of locators which are basically manufacturing, electronics, automotive related and we expect the new one to be more like that. The shipbuilding one (WCE) is a unique development because it’s on the seaside,” de Mesa said.

AIC’s LIMA Estate is located in an 800-hectare registered economic zone with currently 65,000 employees. The mixed-use development hosts 150 locators, 167 retail stores and restaurants, 136-room 4-star hotel, a transportation hub and over 4,000 households.

MEZ2 is in a 63-hectare registered economic zone with 14,000 employees. It hosts 49 locators; 70 retail stores, services and restaurants; 18 office spaces and a transportation hub.

WCE is located in a 540-hectare mixed-use development, of which 283 hectares is a registered zone tagged as the shipbuilding capital of the Philippines and hosts 11 locators from medium to heavy industries that employ 14,000 skilled workers.

It is complemented with residential, commercial and institutional components. – Jed Macapagal
