Filinvest Land Inc. (FLI) said six properties infused into unit Filinvest REIT Corp. (FILRT) are now certified green buildings under the Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) of the International Finance Corp.
These certifications were awarded last September 22, in Northgate Cyberzone, Filinvest City in Muntinlupa City.
Northgate Cyberzone is an 18.7-hectare information technology zone that is home to the country’s largest district cooling system (total capacity of 12,000 tons of refrigeration), which is fast becoming a key center of productivity in South Metro Manila.
FILRT’s properties were EDGE-certified after achieving a an average consumption of 25 percent less energy, 39 percent less water, and 55 percent less embodied energy in embodied materials compared to other buildings in the Philippines.
“This was accomplished without any retrofitting work,” the company said.
FLI said with the certification, FILRT now has the distinction of having the “highest number of EDGE-certified office buildings among the REITs in the Philippines, bolstering its commitment as the country’s first sustainability-themed REIT.”
“These Grade A, Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA)-accredited buildings representing 33 percent of FILRT’s nationwide office portfolio in terms of leasable area are Vector One, Vector Two, Filinvest Two, Filinvest Three, Plaza A and Plaza D,” it added.

Lirio said FLI has also identified a pipeline of projects that will be certified under EDGE.
FILRT aims to have 74 percent of its current portfolio under EDGE certification in about two years.
