THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will start accepting applications for special permits for public utility vehicles (PUVs) to enhance transportation services during the Christmas season.
Teofilo Guadiz III, LTFRB chairperson, said in a statement on Sunday the application for the special permits will be opened on December 15.
Guadiz said the special permit will be valid from December 20 to Jan. 4, 2025.
He said LTFRB is opening 5,000 slots for special permits within and outside Metro Manila.
He said the 5,000 slots have been approved for Transport Network Vehicle Services by the agency.
Guadiz said the LTFRB is working closely with operators and enforcers to manage the expected increase in passengers during the holidays but urged commuters to plan their travels ahead and to remain vigilant to ensure a safe and smooth journey.
He also urged commuters patronize legitimate public transportation, follow safety protocols, and report to the LTFRB any overcharging, overloading, or other violations.
