MANILA – A total of 47 companies and other industry stakeholders, such as training institutions, are supporting the country’s hosting of the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 on Aug. 26 to 28, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) said.

The companies will provide access to their equipment and workshops, either for training the local participants or for use during the main competition to be held at World Trade Center in Pasay City, the TESDA said in a statement on Friday, August 15.

Some 300 delegates and their companions from the 11 member-states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region will participate, the TESDA said.

The competition will have six skills areas, with 32 specific skills such as information and communications technology, that will include specific skills on cybersecurity, information network cabling, internet of things and information technology network system, TESDA explained.  Delegates will also compete in emerging skills in manufacturing and engineering technology, TESDA said.

“By co-developing skill areas, validating assessment criteria, and participating in technical working groups, they help ensure that the competition reflects the realities of the labor market,” TESDA Secretary Francisco Benitez said in the TESDA statement.

Industry partners will provide real-world training environments, allowing local competitors to hone their skills using the latest tools, technologies and processes, Benitez said.

The event’s success will depend on the strong collaboration with the private sector, the TESDA said. (PNA)
