TRAVELLERS International will build a $400-million Mactan World Resorts, the newest integrated resort of the group, according to Kevin Tan, company chairman.
This represents one of two expansion projects of Travellers in integrated resort development outside Metro Manila. The other is in Boracay.
In his speech at the IAG Academy Summit in Newport World Resorts in Paranaque City on Wednesday, Tan said Mactan World Resorts will be located within the 30-hectare Mactan Newtown township slated for completion by 2028.
“This will be home to a state-of-the-art hotel, resort, and casino,” Tan said.
Once completed, Tan said, the gaming and leisure hub is expected to provide more than 5,000 jobs to the residents of Lapu-Lapu City and other nearby cities and municipalities in Cebu.
The integrated resort is just 20 minutes away from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
According to Tan, Boracay World Resorts will elevate the development “to an elite league of destinations in the Philippines, boasting the rare distinction of having its own exclusive golf course and private beach.”
The group currently owns a 150-hectare township called Boracay Newcoast which also houses an a 18-hole golf course, its own 1-kilometer private beach and close to 2,000 hotel room keys.
Tan said Travellers is also building an integrated resort with its own freestanding villas and hotel suites.
