Sindicatum C-Solar Power Inc., a subsidiary of Singapore’s renewable energy (RE) developer Gurīn Energy Pte. Ltd., has begun constructing a solar photovoltaic power plant in New Clark City, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) said.

In a statement on Sunday, BCDA said the $33-million Capas solar power project broke ground in New Clark City on April 11.

The facility within a 40-hectare lot will have a total capacity of 38.81 megawatts, or 31.25 MW alternating current output. It is expected to be completed in January 2026.

Once completed, the power plant will feed the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ substation in Concepcion, Tarlac, with renewable energy through a 69-kilovolt transmission line.

The BCDA said it entered into an agreement with Sindicatum for the 25-year lease of the property in New Clark City for developing the solar photovoltaic power plant on Sept. 10, 2015.

In June 2023, Sindicatum told the  BCDA there had been changes in its ownership structure after Gurīn Energy acquired its holding company, Capas Investment Pte. Ltd., from Sindicatum Renewable Energy Company Pte. Ltd.

Backed by New Zealand-based Infratil Ltd., RE provider Gurīn Energy has investments in several wind and solar projects across Asia, including the Philippines.

The Capas solar power project aims to build up Central Luzon’s RE market, and support the national government’s goal of increasing the share of RE in the country’s energy mix to 30 percent by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040.
