PLDT Inc. wireless subsidiary Smart Communications Inc. yesterday unveiled the first ever fifth generation (5G) powered esports hub in the Philippines.
The company deployed Smart 5G at the Gariath Concepts esports venue in Quezon City with peak speeds hitting 1 gigabit per second.
The company kicked off the country’s first 5G-powered Mobile Legends match last February.

Jane Basas, Smart senior vice president and head of consumer wireless business, said the company is expected to launch soon a Smart 5G certified handset to unlock the benefits of 5G network.
