SAP names Globe as “The Game Changer”

Globe Telecom bagged the “Most Transformational Award — The Game Changer” during the recently held SAP Best Run Awards 2021 for Southeast Asia as it continues to pursue its purpose-led digital transformation journey.

The Awards recognizes and celebrates leading organizations in the region that have harnessed innovations from across SAP’s ecosystem of products and services, turning insights into action to drive successful transformation for their businesses. SAP is a global market leader in enterprise software applications.

Organizations were assessed on their ability to think out of the box and how technology has been implemented to innovate and disrupt industries to drive greater business outcomes in a distributed and uncertain economic environment.

Globe migrated to SAP as its digital core to address varying systems and technical challenges that caused downtime.  It decommissioned seven legacy systems and implemented various cloud solutions and additional modules to automate manual processes to minimize infrastructure management.

SAP said Globe successfully engineered new ways of staying agile, scalable, and sustainable to achieve stable and reliable systems and uphold business continuity despite the lockdowns.

Other benefits include instant conversion to purchase order for catalog items, faster processing of long-running programs, and hours saved by streamlining the budget monitoring processes and manual payment classification for accurate cash flow planning.

Aboitiz CEO at UN Summit

Aboitiz Group president and chief executive officer Sabin M. Aboitiz joined business leaders across the world at the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit to tackle the converging global crises of the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and economic inequity in order to develop a roadmap for sustainable recovery.

As a member of the UN Global Compact and the Global Compact Network Philippines Board of Trustees, the Aboitiz Group was invited to share its unique perspective on the topic of Energy Transition for A Sustainable Future as outlined by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Aboitiz highlighted the growing social and economic disparity between developed and developing economies, a gap that he believes the policies formed by richer countries should aim to narrow.

“[Inequality] prevents us from being competitive. It prevents us from providing affordable power, which is a requirement of SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy). It prevents us from achieving SDG 1 (No Poverty) by restricting our capital and redirecting already limited resources elsewhere. We all deserve to be developed countries, so we need to solve this problem, but we cannot do it alone; we need the richer countries to understand that we are not at their level,”Aboitiz explained.

Long before the establishment of the SDGs, the Aboitiz Group has built its products and services around being an inclusive business that creates opportunities to uplift the lives of all its stakeholders across the Philippines, especially those facing economic hardship.

Royale Cargo taps AEB

Royale Cargo Services (RCS) has tapped AEB’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) to effectively and systematically store and roll out goods — from meat, vegetables, eggs and marine products to pharmaceutical items.

WMS by AEB, a Germany-based cloud software specialist with 40 years of experience in global trade, logistics and IT, gives RCS visibility on shipment status, quality management, inventory, packing and dispatch of goods, making the Philippines’ leading cold chain logistics provider’s operations more seamless and less prone to errors.

Designed to improve supply chain operations in cold storage, the cold chain WMS by AEB helps standardize operations and other cold chain processes such as blast freezer receiving, computer-assisted replenishment control, and stock removal strategies.

Cold chain WMS facilitates data collection for efficient putaway, picking and packing of goods inside RCS’ cold storage warehouse with the help of mobile computers by Honeywell that are specifically designed for cold environments.

The system assigns a QR code for each item in the inventory empowering warehouse managers with a more reliable network of data while simplifying complex warehouse management processes in real-time and with fewer errors.

All-in-one online consultation app for Filipinos

eConsult, an online consultation mobile app, gives Filipinos access to more than seven types of services in just one app. Elmo Nobleza, founder of eConsult App said the inspiration behind the project was born at the height of the pandemic last year when Filipinos have limited access to services that matter the most due to quarantine restrictions imposed nationwide.

Nobleza said initially the goal of the app was to cater to healthcare providers while minimizing the risks of acquiring the disease.

Because of the challenges posed by the pandemic, the founders of eConsult have come together to build a mobile application solution that will cater to all consultation related services that can be catered online.

Nobleza said the online consultation app aims to help both professionals, instructors, coaches, and readers by providing a platform that will match the demand and the supply.

This June, in celebration of the National Migrant Workers’ Day every June 7, FWD Insurance’s campaign “Digital Bayanihan for OFW Heroes” calls on that same bayanihan spirit–this time in digital.

A group can work together to accumulate 60,000 points (chosen OFW from Asia) or 120,000 points (chosen OFW from outside Asia) in the FWD Affiliates app.

The first 10 groups to accumulate 60,000 points (chosen OFW from Asia) or 120,000 points (chosen OFW from outside Asia) in the app will get a one-way ticket back home for their nominated OFWs, from anywhere in the world.
