Vehicle sales as of November surpassed 2020 full-year tally after registering the highest monthly growth rate last month.
A joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (Campi) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) showed vehicle sales for November rose 17 percent to 26,456 units from 22,581 units in October.
Year-to-date, sales totaled 240,642 units, a 22.7 percent growth compared with 196,197 units in the same period last year. In 2020, Campi and TMA vehicle sales stood at 223,793 units.
“Surpassing our last year’s sales performance gives the industry a renewed hope that recovery is underway as restrictions started easing, and economic activities have resumed at improved levels,” said Rommel Gutierrez, Campi president.
Gutierrez said the industry remains cautious and on guard on the uncertainties brought by the new coronavirus disease 2019 mutations, “which hopefully will not undermine our recovery.”
Gutierrez said shift to online sales and marketing methods and activities will continue even as mobility restrictions are ease.
He said online marketing has become a viable strategy for the automotive industry to meet the needs of customers. – Irma Isip
