Share prices ended up Thursday tracking overseas leads.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index was up 154.37 points to 6,364.08, a 2.49 percent hike.
The broader all shares index was up 66.23 points to 3,715.98, a 1.81 percent.
Gainers edged losers 132 to 61 with 46 stocks unchanged. Trading turnover reached P7.34 billion.
The peso closed at 49.73 to the dollar, up from 49.82 on Wednesday. It opened at 49.77 and hit a high of 49.73 and a low of 49.82. Trading turnover reached $615.66 million.
“Local shares advanced on Thursday following positive overnight news over the development of a potential coronavirus vaccine by Pfizer and BioNTech and optimism over a recovery in the local economy after a pick-up in June manufacturing data,” stockbroker SB Equities Inc., said.
Foreign funds were net buyer of P52.32 million, the second day that foreign investors have been on a net buy. ?
Most actively traded SM Investments Corp. was up P30 to P950. Dito CME Holdings Inc. was down P0.33 to PBDO Unibank Inc. was up P2.60 to P100.50. PLDT Inc. was up P48 to P1,300. Globe Telecom Inc. was up P20 to P2,120. Altus Property Ventures Inc. was down P2.60 to P39.50. Ayala Land Inc. was up P1.10 to P35. SM Prime Holdings Inc. was up P0.70 to P33.05. Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. was up P1.70 to P39.20. Bank of the Philippine Islands was up P3.50 to P75.
