NLEX Corp. is ramping up its traffic management measures in anticipation of the increase in traffic volume at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) this coming Christmas and New Year holidays.
From December 23 to January 3, the tollway company will enhance its operations along the NLEX-SCTEX as part of its “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” motorist assistance program.
The company anticipates high traffic volume at major toll plazas, including Balintawak and Mindanao on December 23 from noon to midnight, December 24 from 6 a.m. to noon, and December 29 from 3 p.m. to midnight.
It also expects high traffic volume at the Tarlac toll plaza on December 23 from 2 p.m. to midnight, December 24 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., December 29 from 4 p.m. to midnight, and January 2 from noon to 10 p.m.
High traffic volume is anticipated at the Bocaue toll plaza on December 25 from 2 to 10 p.m., December 29 from 3 p.m. to midnight, January 2 from 2 p.m. to midnight, and January 3 from 5 to 10 a.m.
Traffic management teams will closely monitor Balintawak, Mindanao, Karuhatan, Valenzuela (Paso de Blas), Meycauayan, Marilao, Bocaue, Sta. Rita, Pulilan, San Simon, San Fernando, Clark South, Tarlac, Tipo and Subic Freeport Expressway as high volume of vehicles is anticipated in these areas, the company said.
It added it will deploy more than 1,000 patrol crews, traffic marshals, security teams, toll lane personnel and incident response teams at strategic areas, except for the Candaba Viaduct.
The tollway company said repairs, construction and lane closures along the mainline road of the NLEX-SCTEX will be suspended unless safety repairs are necessary.
It is also urging cash paying motorists to shift to RFID to avoid queuing at the cash lanes. Those who have no RFID may have the sticker installed for free and pay the initial load.
