Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., yesterday began implementing the toll rate adjustment for the Cavitex C5 Link Expressway.
In a statement, CIC said the Toll Regulatory Board has issued the notice to start collection for the Cavitex C5 Link Segment 1 that covers Taguig to Merville and Segment 3.2 that spans from Merville to E. Rodriguez.
With this, CIC said effective 12:01 a.m. of November 27, the toll rates for Cavitex C5 Link are P35 for Class 1, P69 for Class 2 and P104 for Class 3 motorists, up from the previous rates of P22, P44 and P66, respectively.
Segment 3.2, otherwise known as the Cavitex C5 Link flyover extension, was opened to the motoring public last August 14, 2022, extending the length of the operational segment of the expressway by 1.6 kilometers.
This allowed more convenient access and improved travel time bound to C5 or Circumferential Road 5 in Taguig from Merville, Parañaque, and vice versa.
Aside from introducing new traffic schemes in the area to manage traffic flow, the Cavitex management also opened a new Merville exit ramp last October to cater to Merville-direction bound motorists.
The whole Cavitex C5 Link spans a total of 7.7 km and connect to Cavitex or the Manila-Cavite Expressway in 2023. This will help reduce travel time by 30 to 45 minutes for motorists traveling from Cavitex to Makati, Taguig and Pasay, and vice versa.
CIC said this project also helps decongest major thoroughfares such as EDSA, MIA Road, among others. – Myla Iglesias
