BPI reaps multiple awards
The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) took home multiple trophies from the 20th Philippine Quill and 59th Anvil Awards.
During the Philippine Quill Awards night, BPI took home the coveted Top Award for Communication Skills for its viral content “Going viral? Do it yourself,” which used a tactic called trendjacking to amplify its cybersecurity campaign, #BPICybersecuriTips. The same program also won an Award of Excellence in the Communication Skills — Social Media category.
Other BPI programs that received an Award of Excellence include the “BPI Small Enterprise Acceleration Lab (SEAL) 2022” under the Communication Skills — Corporate Social Responsibility category and “FinEd Unboxed” under the Communication Management — Corporate Social Responsibility category.
BPI earned three Silver Anvils in recognition of its impactful and innovative PR programs and tools during Anvil’s Gabi ng Parangal.
“BPI ProudtoBePartofIt Video Series” and “BPI Sustainability Awareness Month” won the Silver Anvil in the PR Tools—Multimedia and PR Tools—Special Events categories, respectively, while “BPI Cybersecurity PSA—Maging Listo, Huwag Magpaloko,” a collaborative project on cybersecurity between the bank and GMA, also received a Silver Anvil.

The only Philippine entry nominated in this year’s GLOMOs, IDEATe is shortlisted under GLOMOs’ Best Use of Mobile for Accessibility and Inclusion category, which recognizes innovative programs, products and services that enhance accessibility and inclusivity for billions of people afflicted with disabilities, both physical and mental impairments, as well as older users.
The program provides trainings on assistive technology for the visually impaired to help them attain independent mobility and successful participation in the digital economy. Those with physical and psychosocial disabilities are supported with trainings on business basics and virtual tech-related jobs towards entrepreneurship and employment. IDEATe also raises awareness of PLDT and Smart employees and partners on disability sensitivity.
“During its pilot implementation in 2023, IDEATe benefited over 100 visually and physically impaired participants, equipping them with smartphone accessibility, digital business basics, and remote tech job skills. The program not only bolstered digital skills, but also fostered a strong sense of community and empowerment among people with disabilities,” said Stephanie Orlino, AVP for Stakeholder Management at PLDT and Smart.
Held annually, the GLOMOs are considered as the connectivity industry’s most prestigious accolade, judged by the telco sector’s most prominent experts. Winners will be announced during the GLOMO awarding ceremony on February 28 at the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Spain.
Bayad champions financial inclusion
Bayad, the pioneer brand in the outsourced payment collection system in the Philippines, together with its parent institution Meralco, ties up with the local government of Quezon City as it holds its flagship livelihood training program “QC Pangkabuhayan”.
Now on its third year, the said event was held last January 23 to 25 at Serbisyong Bayan, Batasan Hills, Quezon City and at Quezon City Municipal Hall.
Over 2,400 residents participated in the event and were trained with effective ways in starting a business. Alongside this, Bayad introduces Bayad Asenso, an easy-to-use bills payment and loading business mobile application enabling micro-entrepreneurs to become Bayad Agents in their communities and earn additional income.
Owners of sari-sari stores, eateries, bakeries, laundry shops, water refilling stations, and other small establishments may register as Bayad Agents and become top-of-heart in their neighborhood with the convenience and accessibility they will be able to provide.

The Green Life Great Life movement, PC’s extensive program for sustainability and environmental conservation took center stage. The International Association of Business Communicators bestowed an Award of Excellence in Communication Management for Personal Collection’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program at the 20th Quill Awards. It also received a Silver Anvil Award for Public Relations Programs in Sustainability Communication at the Public Relations Society of the Philippines’ 59th Anvil Awards.
PC’s creativity and innovative approach to brand marketing was also recognized at the Quill Awards. The Tuff-est Tongue Battle Video Campaign, a fun, street rap battle video, featuring the countless uses of its Tuff Toilet Bowl Cleanser product received an Award for Communication Management in Marketing, Advertising, and Brand Communication.
