For 75 years, the Philippine Airlines Interclub – or PAL Interclub – has reigned supreme as the country’s longest-running, largest, and most prestigious golf team competition. Widely recognized as the national golf clubs championship, the PAL Interclub is a testament to both fierce competition and enduring camaraderie.
At its heart, the PAL Interclub is an annual reunion for golf aficionados from across the Philippines and abroad. It’s a place to renew old friendships and forge new ones, all while battling it out on the course. Here, the honor of playing alongside the nation’s finest golfers is the ultimate prize.
This unique character, cultivated over 75 years of camaraderie, is what makes the PAL Interclub such an enduring institution. The 2024 diamond year edition glittered even brighter with the return of top golf clubs from across the country and the world.
Adding to PAL’s illustrious legacy is the Del Monte Golf Club’s triumph in the Seniors title. Led by captain Yoyong Velez, they dethroned the defending champions, the Luisita Golf and Country Club.
“We’re ecstatic to win the Seniors title this year,” Velez shared. “We’ve been part of this tournament for decades, and the spirit of camaraderie has been there since the very beginning. We’ll continue to support the PAL Interclub, a tournament that fosters fun and friendship among golfers worldwide.”
Another remarkable feat was Manila Southwoods’ comeback victory in the Men’s Regular Invitational. Overcoming a five-point deficit, they stormed back to win by 13 points over Eastridge. This ninth PAL Interclub title was particularly special, as it was their first ever come-from-behind victory.
“This is what makes the win so sweet,” said Southwoods captain Thirdy Escano. “Even down by five points after the first round, I knew we could fight back.”
Completing the champions’ circle are the Cebu Country Club (Founders Division), Zamboanga Golf (Aviator Division), West Highlands Butuan (Sportswriters Division), and Edwin Andrews Air Base (Friendship Division).
