Globe Telecom Inc. is on track to complete the migration of all its broadband subscribers to the latest fiber technology by 2022, as part of its commitment to deliver a better internet experience for its customers.
The company said Globe At Home has been moving its broadband customers from DSL and Long Term Evolution to fiber for free for over a year now.
“By 2022, all of our customers will be able to enjoy fast fiber technology capable of handling the present and future needs of the household. We will continue to guide them for an easy and smooth transition,” Barbie Dapul, Globe At Home vice president for marketing, said in a statement.
As of October, migration has jumped by more than 250 percent, exceeding the 2021 target, Globe said. The company aims to install at least 1.4 million fiber-to the-home (FTTH) lines this year.
Globe At Home customers on fiber can get maximum speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second.
This means they can enjoy more seamless HD video calls during work meetings or virtual classes, or even lag-free gaming, through faster upload and download speeds, the company said.
Fiber allows more members at home to enjoy the internet together with a more reliable internet connection, it added.
Globe also said its latest internal survey conducted on customers who shifted to fiber shows customer satisfaction has increased by 45 points.
Globe’s home broadband revenues posted a record P22.4 billion in the first nine months of the year, exceeding the same period of 2020 by 15 percent. The company said accelerated fiber rollout already yielded positive results with the increased take up of FTTH lines of 240 percent and fiber revenues growing by 169 percent against a year ago.
Globe added it continues to invest on information and communication technology infrastructures to improve and provide the best service to its customers to provide #1stWorldNetwork to Filipinos nationwide.
As of end September this year, Globe spent P65.4 billion for capital expenditure (capex), surpassing last year’s full year investment of P60.3 billion. About 84 percent of the capex investment went to data network builds to address and elevate mobile and internet experience of its customers.
