PAL Holdings Inc. (PHI), parent firm of flag carrier Philippine Airlines yesterday announced the appointment Lucio Tan Jr., as its president following the resignation of Gilbert Santa Maria.
The PHI board of directors meeting on Monday, October 28, approved Tan’s appointment as well as the resignation of Santa Maria.
Santa Maria, however, remains as PAL president and chief operating officer to focus on the full management of the flag carrier.
“Gilbert (Santa Maria) will now have his hands 100 percent full on PAL matters — on the operating carrier as president and chief operating officer. Bong Tan (Jr. ), on the other hand, will handle concerns of the holding company on top of being PAL vice chairman and PAL director,” said Cielo Villaluna, PAL spokesperson.
At the board meeting, Santa Maria also presented his 90-day report on PAL and his turnaround plan for the airline for implementation beginning 2020.
