The Sy siblings topped the Forbes Philippines’ 50 richest for 2021, the second straight year.
The Sy children replaced their father Henry Sy, in the list last year. The Sy family patriarch held the title as Philippines’ richest for 11 consecutive years, until his death in 2019.
Forbes Magazine said this year’s list of the Philippines’ 50 richest saw their collective wealth rise 30 percent to $79 billion.
Joining the Sy siblings in the top three richest in the Philippines are former senator and realtor Manny Villar, and port magnate Enrique Razon.
The Sy siblings have a net worth of $16.6 billion, Villar has a net worth of $6.7 billion, while Razon has a net worth of $5.8 billion. With the Sy siblings’ worth computed cumulatively,Villar is the richest individual.
Completing the top 10 richest in the Philippines after the Sy siblings, Villar, and Razon are – Lance Gokongwei and siblings, $4 billion; Jaime Zobel de Ayala, $3.3 billion; Dennis Anthony and Maria Grace Uy, $2.8 billion; Tony Tan Caktiong, $2.7 billion; Andrew Tan, $2.6 billion; Ramon Ang, $2.3 billion; and Ty siblings, $2.2 billion.
The minimum net worth to make the list this year was $200 million, up from $100 million last year.
The Sy siblings added $2.7 billion to their net worth this year, Villar’s rose $1.7 billion, while Razon’s worth increased by $1.5 billion.
The top 50 richest in the Philippines had a combined wealth of $79 billion, up 30 percent from last year, and amounts to 21.81 percent of the Philippines’ GDP as of last year.
