The Department of Tourism (DOT) expects a boost in foreign tourist arrivals to the country in the coming months with the operation of Clark International Airport’s (CRK) new passenger terminal.
Dubbed as a new world-class gateway, Clark airport’s new passenger terminal building began operating yesterday, with ceremonial water cannon salutes to the first departing and arriving flights from Jetstar Asia and Cebu Pacific Air (CEB).
DOT has noted an increase in tourist arrivals with the additional international flights via Clark airport.
Two of South Korea’s largest low-cost airlines were among the new air carriers added to the list of airlines that will be operating direct flights from Clark.
Jeju Air will launch its Incheon-CRK-Incheon route every Thursday and Sunday, while Jin Air will offer the same route every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, beginning May 16.
Other foreign flights that will be utilizing the new passenger terminal include destinations to and from Singapore via Jetstar and Scoot; Doha via Qatar Airways; Air Asia; and Dubai via Emirates.
Local air carriers CEB and Philippine Airlines will also operate flights at the new passenger terminal.
CEB is the first local carrier to land at the newly built CRK Terminal 2 yesterday, with passengers on flight 5J 156 from Cebu as the first CEB fliers to use the new passenger terminal.
At present, CEB flies daily between Clark and Cebu.
