The stock market opened little changed to firmer on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) as investors searched for trading cues ahead of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., set for this afternoon after closing trade.

The benchmark PSEi gained 4.25 points to 6,417.43.

The broader All Shares inched up 0.08 percent or 3.21 points to 3,800.08.

Online stockbrokerage firm 2tradeasia.com told clients the spotlight in today’s trade will be on the SONA, as the investing community looks for “guidance on addressing the challenges of climate change, plus countering global trade and geopolitical headwinds.”

Trading for the day is expected to move the index sideways “pending (fresh) catalysts to warrant aggressive positioning,” it said.
