The local bourse ended marginally higher Tuesday in subdued trading, with investors staying on the sidelines ahead of key economic meetings in Washington.

The benchmark (PSEi) edged up 0.05 percent, or 2.95 points, to close at 6,355.69. The broader All Shares rose 0.1 percent, or 3.76 points, to 3,757.20.

Gainers narrowly outpaced losers, 97 to 96, with 45 issues unchanged.

Total turnover reached just P5 billion.

Foreign investors posted net outflows of P14.67 million, with total selling at P2.37 billion outpacing P2.35 billion in purchases.

Luis Limlingan, managing director at Regina Capital Development Corp., said the market held modest gains despite sluggish volume, “with sentiment showing a slight improvement.”

“Technical setups hint at renewed confidence, though investors remain cautious,” he said, pointing to anticipated developments from the Philippine-US trade talks this week and the scheduled bilateral meeting between President Marcos and US President Trump in Washington.

SB Equities echoed the cautious tone in its market summary, noting that the index met selling pressure right at the start of trade but recovered by midday as bargain hunters returned, helping the PSEi finish in the green.
