Throughout March, SM Supermalls took the lead in celebrating Women’s Month, ensuring that women were at the forefront of the spotlight. Embracing the color purple as its motif, SM orchestrated a series of empowering activities aimed at highlighting the achievements and challenges faced by women.

The month kicked off on March 1 with a discussion on the Safe Spaces Act held at the Skydome of SM North EDSA. Attended by SM employees and stakeholders, the event underscored SM Group’s unwavering commitment to uphold the Bawal Bastos law and eradicate all forms of sexual discrimination and harassment within SM premises. The orientation seminar provided valuable insights into the legal rights of women and the LGBTQ community, as well as the responsibilities of public establishments.
Simultaneously, an impactful United Nations (UN) exhibit titled ‘Walk In Her Shoes’ debuted at SM North EDSA. Through poignant visual narratives, the exhibit shed light on the multifaceted roles and obstacles encountered by women on a daily basis, serving as a poignant reminder of the ongoing quest for gender equality.
On March 8, International Women’s Day was commemorated with a comprehensive program held at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura. Organized by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), UN Women, and SM Supermalls, the event featured inspiring talks by prominent figures such as Leanne Robers, co-founder of She Loves Tech, and Senator Loren Legarda.
March 10 witnessed the Women’s Run PH at SM by the Bay, drawing over 5000 participants in a celebration of health, fitness, and female empowerment. Organized by SM Supermalls and the Filipina CEO Circle, the event included various running categories catering to participants of all ages and fitness levels.
March 15, known as the Ides of March, was dedicated to Women and Art. Senator Grace Poe and French Ambassador Marie Fontanel inaugurated the exhibit ‘#Women2024: Empower Her Palette’ at the Podium, showcasing the artistic prowess of Filipino and French women artists and promoting cultural unity.
The same day marked the finale of the Sining Filipina art competition and exhibit, sponsored by SM Supermalls and BDO in support of Zonta Makati and Environs. With over 700 submissions, the competition showcased the talent and creativity of female artists across figurative and non-figurative categories, further cementing SM’s commitment to women’s empowerment.
