PLDT Inc. wireless unit Smart Communications Inc. has partnered with over 160 international mobile service providers to expand its roaming services globally.
In a statement, Smart said it maintained fifth generation (5G) roaming lead in 89 destinations worldwide, from Oceania, Europe, the Middle East, North and South America, Africa as well as other countries in Asia.
This enables their customers to connect to Smart’s network using their local subscriber identity modules’ (SIM) roaming services when they arrive in the Philippines.
Smart’s mobile network covers 97 percent of the population with 4G/Long Term Evolution and 5G as of the end of 2023.
This mobile network is supported by PLDT’s fiber infrastructure, which is at over 1.1 million cable kilometers, including international and domestic fiber.
