The Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 project is targeted to be operational this December, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Mark Villar, DPWH secretary, said the section of the project that collapsed due to fire last February has already been replaced as San Miguel Corp. (SMC) unit Citra Central Expressway Corp. rushes the civil works to make up for the unforeseen delay.

At present, Skyway Stage 3 is 88.72 percent complete, excluding section 2A from Tomas Claudio to PUP in Sta. Mesa, Manila segment which has yet to begin civil works due to right-of-way issues.

“We are intensifying our road right-of-way acquisition so we may soon begin construction at Section 2A. So far, we have acquired 231 out of the 350 lots that need to be acquired with permit to enter,” said Villar.

Separately, section 1 covering Buendia-Quirino-Nagtahan is 90.67 percent complete; section 2B in Tomas Claudio-Ramon Magsaysay Avenue is 94.39 percent; section 3 in Ramon Magsaysay-Quezon Avenue is 96.86 percent; section 4 or Quezon Avenue-Balintawak, Quezon City is 75.67 percent; and section 5 from Balintawak to North Luzon expressway (NLEx) footbridge is 83.56 percent complete.
