Listed oil firm Shell Pilipinas is keen on pursuing more facilities that can support electric vehicles (EVs) in its mobility stations nationwide.

“Just this February, we launched Shell Recharge stations at three mall locations in partnership with Ortigas Land and we are looking at introducing more chargers this 2024 with more industry partners,” said Josemari Lorenzo Valdez, Shell Pilipinas country business manager for e-mobility, vehicle servicing, convenience retail and business alliance.

The company’s demand and partnership approach is hoped to grow its EV charging station footprint in areas “where there is strong customer demand at pace with society,” Valdez said in a statement.

As of end-2023, Pilipinas Shell had over 25 charge points across eight locations.

Apart from pushing for EV infrastructure, the company said it is also ramping up the use of more renewable energy (RE) in its operations.

So far, Pilipinas Shell has two EV charging stations which are 100 percent RE powered, located at the South Luzon Expressway-Mamplasan and in Seven NEO Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City, Valdez said.

Other charging stations located at the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway are partially powered by RE through on-site solar facilities, he added.

“In addition, though without charging stations, our Shell mobility station located in North Luzon Expressway Tabang, Bulacan is also 100 percent powered by RE thru Shell Energy and we have approximately 150 other mobility stations powered with on-site solar technologies,” Valdez said. – Jed Macapagal
