Share prices on the Philippine Stock Exchange continued to weaken, plagued by concerns about the impact of the US-initiated trade war against its trading partners.

“Concerns over (US President Donald) Trump’s trade policies persisted, with tariffs on Canada and Mexico set to take effect after the postponement deadline,” Luis Limlingan, managing director of Regina Capital and Development Corp., said.

“Weak economic data and ongoing inflation worries dampened sentiment, with investors turning their focus to upcoming earnings reports and the Fed’s preferred inflation indicator, the PCE (personal consumption expenditures), for clues on the market’s next move,” he added.
