Search on for president, directors of Maharlika

The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) has officially announced  nominations and applications for the position of president and chief executive officer (PCEO) as well as directors for Maharlika Investment Corp.(MIC) are now open.

In an advisory posted on its website, the BTr said the nomination and application period will close on September 27.

There are two openings for regular directors, and three for independent directors
“The nominations and applications for the PCEO and the independent and regular directors of the MIC should be sent to maharlikasecretariat@treasury.gov.ph,” the BTr said.

The MIC’s 9-man board of directors will be composed of the secretary of finance as ex officio chairperson; the PCEO of the MIC as vice-chairperson; PCEO of the Land Bank of the Philippines and the Development Bank of the Philippines; two regular directors; and three independent directors from the private sector.

The qualifications for the MIC PCEO include an advanced degree in finance, economics, business administration or a related field from a reputable university; while additional professional certifications such as chartered financial analyst or certified public accountant is preferred.

He/she should also have exceptional experience and expertise in corporate management, financial planning strategy, strategic planning and vision, market and business development or budget development.

The BTr also requires applicants for the PCEO position to have a minimum of 10 years experience in finance or investment, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role in a reputable financial institution, public/private sector organization, while prior experience with environmental, social and governance criteria and sustainable investment is preferred.

The first ever MIC PCEO must have an in-depth understanding of the industry, including risk management, compliance and regulatory requirements; and strategic knowledge of cash flow and capital planning management institutions, investment firms or sovereign wealth fund. Angela Celis
