Salary, financial stability of the employer and healthcare program of the company emerged as the top three essential items employees would consider more important in their work now than before the pandemic, results of PhilCare’s Survey of Filipino Workers 2021.

Asked to rank 11 items they deem more important now, respondents now want their companies to provide essential, no-frills salary and benefits that will help them address their current needs and secure their future. At 62 percent, salary was ranked top followed by financial stability of the employer (58 percent), and healthcare program of the company (56.9 percent ) .

Career development, learning and skills training, and organizational values were considered among the least essential during the pandemic.

“Aside from the assurance they will continue to receive their salaries, Filipino workers consider healthcare among the most essential assistance they can get from their employers,” said Jaeger Tanco, PhilCare president and chief executive officer.

Tanco added employees now see the importance of ensuring the companies they work for continue to thrive and grow despite economic uncertainties, knowing how challenging it is to lose work during the pandemic.

The results of the survey provide insights on how employers can promote business continuity.

PhilCare suggests that companies incorporate sustainable practices by allowing the business to adjust operations even in uncertain times through technologies that allow, for example, for remote work and promote employee retention,

PhilCare also cite the need to create distinct employee experience by having benefits that address the real needs of their employees such as healthcare assistance. Irma Isip
