The Didipio Mine bagged its second consecutive safest underground mining operation award at the 69th Annual National Mines Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) in Baguio City.

Joan Adaci-Cattiling, Didipio Mine president and general manager for External Affairs and Social Performance, said the award is a testament to the company’s commitment to having not only a safe working environment for its workers, but also protecting communities and the environment.

Didipio Mine was also judged as runner up in the safest mineral processing – concentrator category this year.

“Part of our responsible mining operations is continuous improvement, and this award only motivates us more to sustain and even surpass the high standard we have achieved,” Adaci-Cattiling said.

Charles Pangalina, one of Didipio Mine’s production drillers, was also named as the Best Miner — Underground.

The ANMSEC is an annual gathering dedicated to the country’s mining industry. It is organized by the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources — Mines and Geosciences Bureau.
