PTEs told to gear up for Florita

The National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) has directed all public telecommunication entitles (PTEs) to ensure sufficient number of technical and support personnel and standby generators with extra fuel, tools and spare equipment in the areas forecast to be affected by severe tropical storm Florita.

Florita made landfall over Maconacon, Isabela yesterday.

Gamaliel Cordoba, NTC commissioner, in an advisory also directed PTEs to fasttrack the repair and restoration of telecommunication services in the service areas severely affected by the typhoon.

Cordoba also directed PTEs to deploy Libreng Tawag and Libreng Charging Stations in strategic areas affected by the typhoon.

He also reminded the PTEs to coordinate with local government units to and to observe strict health protocols to avoid transmission of coronavirus disease.

“The Commission will expect status updates every six hours of ongoing restoration activities being performed on your network and facilities and a timeline for the full restoration of service,” Cordoba said.
