The Private Sector Advisory Council – Jobs Sector (PSAC-Jobs) is proposing measures that would retain and hone talents locally to address shortage.
In a statement, PSAC-Jobs said it has proposed to President Marcos a scholarship program in healthcare and digital industry that will tie them to working locally before exploring opportunities abroad.
PSAC said the scholarship program includes a commitment to domestic work for two to three years, to develop and retain talents in healthcare and digital sectors.
PSAC Jobs said it has also recommended to the President the expansion of accelerated certificate programs, particularly through Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, for shorter courses that effectively address the demand for skilled workers.
PSAC-Jobs advocates for exploring alternative solutions such as shared vessels to ensure quality training while optimizing resources, noting . the impracticality of individual training ships for maritime schools.
PSAC-Jobs is also calling for the study of the implications of the Global Minimum Tax to maintain the Philippines’ competitiveness while ensuring sustainable growth. It did not provide details
The group is also pushing for the further study of proposed tax rates and incentives for the mining industry, emphasizing the importance of fair taxation policies that balance competitiveness with industry growth and national development.
