Private sector-led COVID testing gains support

A rapid testing initiative which hopes to accelerate the reopening of businesses gains support from big corporations.

Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion said at a public briefing ProjectARK (Anti-Body Rapid  Test Kits) Massive Rapid Testing has signed up 130 companies and eyes to increase this to  200 companies.

Concepcion said the project has also approached officials of barangays where these businesses are located and possibly include them in the testing.

The official said rapid testing will guide companies in determining the readiness of their operations in specific areas

“It is important to have more manufacturing, malls, and public transportation to open, “ Concepcion said.

He said the project will also help six provincial hospitals in expanding their testing capacities.

Concepcion clarified anew those found positive in the rapid testing will have to get the RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) testing for confirmation.

For Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, testing is a must for companies to restart operations.

“We should focus on test, test, test for visibility and Cabinet and government  can open the economy more and give  livelihood to Filipinos,” Concepcion said.
