Some 91 stock keeping units (SKUs) of Noche Buena products will see price increases this holiday season, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
That is nearly three-fourths of the SKUs of Noche Buena products monitored by the DTI.
The DTI is yet to release the price guide of Noche Buena products.
Based on last year’s price guide, the DTI monitored 122 Noche Buena products. These included ham, keso de bola, cheese, sandwich spread, mayonnaise, pasta/spaghetti, elbow macaroni, salad macaroni, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce and creamer/all purpose cream.
Last year saw prices of most Noche Buena products unchanged.
Ahead of holiday spending, a study conducted by Packworks, a Philippine-based startup that provides a business-to-business platform to sari-preneurs, said the price of import-dependent milk and cream went up by 11.84 percent.
A 250-milliliter (ml) pack of purpose cream, 300-ml pack of condensed milk, and 370-ml pack of evaporated milk now cost P10 to P15 more than the previous price.
The study added prices of spreads such as mayonnaise and dairy products like cheese got 5.28 percent more expensive.
The data was generated from Packworks’ network of almost 200,000 sari-sari stores nationwide. – Irma Isip
