
The Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) is set to sign rooftop solar partnerships with three more government agencies before the end of the month.
Oliver Butalid, PNOC president and chief executive officer, said at the budget hearing in the Senate yesterday, the state-run firm will likely have a total solar rooftop capacity partnership with government agencies at 6 megawatts (MW) that is planned to be ramped up to as much as as 20 MW next year.
“PNOC is uniquely positioned to support the goals of Republic Act 11285, the Energy Efficiency Act and the Interagency Energy Efficiency and Conservation Committee resolution, which advocates for solar PV (photovoltaic) installations in government buildings,” Butalid said.
He did not disclose the details.
PNOC said to date, it has signed contracts with five government agencies for such services equivalent to a total capacity of 5.5 MW
These include the National Food Authority, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and the National Economic and Development Authority.
