Smart Communication Inc. and Globe Telecom Inc. have restored mobile services in areas affected by super typhoon Rolly.
PLDT wireless unit Smart said it has restored mobile services in Catanduanes on Wednesday as the province was isolated for a few days after it was devastated by the typhoon.
PLDT and Smart are now focusing efforts on hardest hit provinces like Catanduanes, Albay, Camarines Sur and Norte. Personnel are working round-the-clock.
Globe has restored its call and text services in San Andres and Long Term Evolution services and internet browsing in Virac, Catanduanes.
In Camarines Sur, call and text services are likewise restored in the municipalities of Bombon, Bula, Cabusao, Calabanga, Del Gallego and Lupi which were heavily affected in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Rolly.
All Globe cell sites in the two areas in Catanduanes and the six municipalities in Camarines Sur are now fully operational.
Globe said it iss exerting all means possible to immediately restore services in other parts of Catanduanes and Camarines Sur as well as in the province of Albay.
Both telecom providers, have providedfree unlimited call and text services to affected residents.
Globe is giving free unlimited calls and texts to Globe/TM for three days to all its prepaid customers in Catanduanes, Albay and Camarines Sur to help them get in touch with their loved ones.
Smart also provides affected residents free call and phone charging stations in Aurora, Bataan, Batangas, Bulacan, Camarines Sur, Marinduque, Pampanga, Sorsogon, Tarlac and Zambales.
