THE Philippines looks forward to seeing more “green” innovations and companies in the country following the establishment of a P2.9-billion fiber cement building materials plant in Pampanga.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday night met with the executives of Shera Public Company Ltd. led by its chief executive officer Ongek Taechamahaphant and Philippine country head Thunnop Jumpasri, on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit in Vientiane, Laos.
“We’re proud to welcome Shera Public Company Limited’s investment in the Philippines. As a leader in fiber cement products, Shera isn’t just bringing eco-friendly building solutions–they’re also creating jobs and reducing our reliance on imports,” Marcos said.
Marcios said he is also looking forward to seeing the company’s green innovations in action, helping to make the Philippines “become a hub for smart and sustainable manufacturing.”
During the meeting, the company executives discussed their investment plan in the Philippines that involves the installation and operation of a P2.9-billion fiber cement building materials plant inside TECO Industrial Park in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
The Philippine plant is expected to commence operations by the first quarter of 2025 and marks Shera’s first overseas operations.
Shera is based in Thailand and has been established for over 50 years. It is one of the largest manufacturers of fiber cement boards, siding, roofing and concrete roof tiles in the world.
