Amid the ongoing tensions over the West Philippine Sea and the new coronavirus disease 2019 , the country will continue to explore trade and investment opportunities with China.
Secretary Ramon Lopez of the Department of Trade and Industry told a virtual press conference, said the Philippines will participate in two of CHhna’s biggest trade and investment fairs to be held this year.
“We are definitely and continuously exporting products whether they be agriculture and even non- agriculture to the China market. China is a huge market. It is our number one trading partner as of last year and will continue be so,” Lopez added.
He said he has confirmed with his counterpart in China the Philippines participation in the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) set to be held in Xiamen in September as well as the China International Import Expo in Shanghai in November.
At the CIFIT, the Philippines is the country of honor.
“We continue to be active in the China market despite the pandemic,” Lopez said. – Irma Isip
