Filipino cash remittances made through the banking system from January to May rose 3 percent from a year earlier, with the US remaining as the top source, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said on Tuesday.
The remitted amount reached $13.77 billion, compared with $13.37 billion in the same period last year, the BSP said.
For the month of May 2025 alone, cash remittances grew 2.9 percent to $2.66 billion from $2.58 billion in May 2024.
Cumulative personal remittances totaled $15.34 billion as of end-May, also 3 percent higher than $14.89 billion from a year earlier.
The US remained the top source of remittances to the Philippines for the January-May period, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia, the BSP said.
